On b.a. profs and high expectations

I heart teachers with attitude. High expectations yield high performance. Seeing it happen reminds me why I want to teach. I gotta be "meaner"

  1. oh! i'd love to hear the story! i don't think you have to be meaner, it's just a matter of being smarter then the kids and holding down your ground. did we do a reading about that? or did i read it from an outside source.. "being smarter then everyone you know" ? ah! it's going to eat me alive.. i will get back to you on that.

But i think you are pretty bad ass!!

  3. I met a very opinionated professor. He was not into hand holding, but he kinda was. He was making rounds of the room asking what people were doing. "Why aren't you working?" it gave students an opportunity to ask for help if they were stuck and made them work if they weren't. but overall he left it as their responsibility. high expectations with no handholding. that's what i like. and intensity. brings a productive anxiety into the room. And it was Karyn in thesis who said "be the smartest person in the room" good linking up. thanks!
